Romans 5:1-5
"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God."
Thankful for grace, rejoicing in His provision. It's hard to believe I have been here over a week now. I am still as excited to spend time with the children as I was when I first arrived. They bring new adventures each day, some more challenging than others, and I wish I could share them all.
I walked by one of the toddler's rooms on Friday night to over hear singing. Three small girls, no more than 5 years old were kneeling on the floor with their little arms extended singing a song of praise. I watched with joy and was reminded again that the children here have the greatest love of all from the greatest provider of all. He sustains them with such abundance in a place where nothing appears to be in abundance outside these walls. The children have three meals a day, clothing, a place to call home, and people who love them greatly.
When I look around at the struggles each child has faced before Emmanuel, rape, abuse, malnutrition, and others things unimaginable, my heart almost stops, but I quickly see the life and love that sustains them and gives them hope.
Katie, I try to spend as much time with Jorge Loise, Joanna, and Michelle, as possible. They ask about you daily and tell me how much they love you. They ADORED their gifts. I have pictures of the girls opening the jewelry boxes and Jorge Loise with his Safari bag. I hug them all the time. I think they are precious too. If you want me to tell them something special, please let me know and I'll do my best to tell them in the broken Spanish they have no choice but to interpret. ;)
I am still spending a good bit of my time with the older girls at the toddler house, praying to offer support, love and encouragement there. They are fun girls, and I am glad they let me spend time with them, although sometimes I feel that their struggles are more than I know. I hope they share more.
I would like to be able to share a few pictures soon! Thank you for your prayers. I realize them daily.
With love always
